46. Acts Of Godfrey

Nine minutes of poetry and I'm thinking in verse, despite of this film, fearing the worse.
Surely, I thought rhyming couplets won't work for the entire duration, jokes would misfire and it would lead to frustration.
But actually, the film wasn't half bad and this style might even lead to a bit of a fad.
Tonight I was lucky to have been sent a DVD preview which in my home I did happily review.
This gave me a chance to unwind and relax as I watched Johnny Daukes film and examined the facts.
The plot is set at a lovely country retreat where characters, who've signed up for a course, do meet.
The course happens to be in effective sales and has more than it's fair share of alpha males.
There is also more than one flighty lass who give glad-eye to the rest of the class.
And the film really is rather odd because it has Simon Callow playing God.
He is trying to engineer loving pairs but that will depend on which couple dares.
There are a surprising number of very good actors and, in raising its standards, that is one of the factors.
Harry Enfield's a baddie and Iain Robertson's a goodie but it's him who starts the film in the nuddy.
But when all the words are said and done, the most important point of the movie is fun.
And what nobody can deny is it's clever and that deserves a point whatever the weather.
And I hope none of my followers will mind that I followed suit and wrote this in rhyme (oops!)
Laughs: A couplet of snorts
Jumps: None
Vomit: None
Nudity: Three scenes. Mr Robertson was very brave to stand out naked in the rain. All men will sympathise.
Rating: 6/10 - mainly for its originality.
PS I know, I know it's not a classic (the film or the review) - but what can you do it 15 minutes?
