Well, for a minute or two my viewing of Bu Son Olsun created a bit of controversy at Wood Green Cineworld.
It seems to be the only one in the country where you cannot purchase tickets for different films at the same with an Unlimited card.
Thus, when I asked the cashier for tickets for the two Turkish films this afternoon, she said I could only have one and would have to come back later for the other.
"But the first film last 100 minutes and that is exactly when the next one starts,'' I pleaded to no avail (even the I've come all the way from Nottingham sob story failed ti crack her resolve).
The cinema manager didn't want to lose face but at the same time came to my rescue (once I'd flash my everyfilm credentials in her direction).
"Just go to two different cashiers for the two tickets,'' she said. I did and, hey presto, I was in Bu Son Olsun on time.
And I'm rather glad I was on time because the start of Orcun Benli's movie is essential to the understanding of the rest of it.
This is a film which surrounds five drunken homeless guys at the time of political upheaval in Turkey in 1980.
It was a time in which fascists and communists vied for revolution but, ultimately, the military took control.
It was all serious stuff and while there is plenty of drama in Bu Son Olsun there is also an undercurrent of the ridiculousness of it all, despite the brutality.
Essentially, our little gang have connections on various sides of the political spectrum and are happy to back anyone who promises them a roof over the heads and who doesn't interfere with their love of wine.
Thus, the military who insist that people stay indoors, even those who don't have an abode, are on collision course with them.
I learned much from Bu Son Olsun, was engaged by its relationships and had a couple of decent titters.
The eccentrics in the vagrant gang are played with gusto and yet a charming wide-eyedness. I was particularly taken with a character called Cowboy Ali (Ferit Kaya).
This is another Turkish film which receives a poor mark on imdb but I beg to differ this time.
