I'm not religious but if I was, I think I might veer towards Buddhism.
To me, it seems about what happens in the world and the body and isn't so much about fairy stories.
In addition, I can't think of wars which were fought in the name of Buddha. Followers seem to be most content people.
Of course, like all religions it does have its superstars - the Dalai Lama being the chief among them.
Another of the most revered is Chogyal Namkhai Norbu, the subject of Jennifer Fox's film.
Actually, the movie is just as much about his son, Yeshi and his take on what it is like to be the son of someone with a devoted following.
Yeshi is half-Italian, his father having fled to Italy when the Chinese invaded his homeland of Tibet in 1959.
But being in another country has not diminished Chogyal's standing in the Buddhist world. He is invited all over the planet.
One of his core beliefs is of reincarnation. Indeed, he beliefs his beloved uncle has been reborn in his son.
I know, I know... I wrote earlier on that I didn't believe in fairy stories.
Anyway, My Reincarnation follows the effect of all of this religious teaching and this element, in particular, on Yeshi.
Fox has interviewed Yeshi since his youth when he was bursting with resentment over not having a 'normal' dad to the present when he seems to have embraced his designated role in life.
The videos spread over the last 20 years make this a very personal account.
But that has its pluses and minuses. It gives an insight deeper than any film-maker could possibly hope but there is a major problem: Yeshi isn't very likeable.
Indeed, for much of the movie he just mopes around and moans.
He complains that his dad doesn't show him any love but anyone could see why - he is so mardy.
Fortunately, as he matures the relationship becomes closer bringing with it a glow which had been absent for much of the time.
Thus, my though on My Reincarnation is that it is a watchable rather than compelling documentary. Nevertheless, I had to admire the dedication of Jennifer Fox in making it.
My Reincarnation can be seen at the Edinburgh Film House tomorrow (March 23)
