Ok, I am going through one of those stages when everyfilm overwhelms me a bit.
This is largely due to me being over-ambitious and trying to review festival movies as well as those which fit the 'must be shown three times' criteria.
Thus, I was behind in watching My Name Is Ki - in fact, I saw its screener a day after the Kinoteka Polish film festival concluded.
I'm sorry to the organisers and to the guys at the Sarah Wilby PR company who sent me the disk.
Anyway, I guess my review of Leszek Dawid's movie wouldn't have helped them put bums on seats because I wasn't a big fan.
It surrounds the life of a pretty young mum (Roma Gasiorowska) who wants to continue a carefree student-type existence despite having a two-year-old child.
At first, we have sympathy because it appears the kid's feckless father is offering no support.
Then we understand why - he isn't the father at all and Ki tends to share around her affections rather liberally.
It's a realistic but rather depressing movie and the only person who elicits any sympathy whatsoever is the small child.
Gasiorowska is convincing in the role (I wish I didn't know young people like her but I do) and deserves plaudits.
But, ultimately, it's a movie which goes nowhere and that is reflected by its conclusion.
The truth is that it barely managed to keep my attention.
