It's a laid back Sunday but after our Saturday night triple bill, I'm finding it difficult to move from my very comfy recliner.
No matter. I have spent 90 worthwhile minutes having a gander at the latest movie from Kinoteka, the 10th Polish film festival.
Indeed, it is timely because Fear Of Falling's debut is at 6pm tonight at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith.
This is a movie which attacks head-on the subject of mental illness and the fears of a child that he might inherit it from his dad.
Tomek (Marcin Doroncinski) is a TV reporter whose father (Krzysztof Stroinski) is being cared for in a home for the mentally ill.
Tomek, however, is finding it difficult to reconcile the ups and downs of his father's condition, wavering between believing he should be at home to being institutionalised.
His views are obvious tainted by the extremely erratic behaviour of his dad who goes from being perfectly rational to throwing televisions out of a window.
In the meantime, it is difficult to know whether Tomek is showing similar symptoms and his own actions are dictated by stress.
Doroncinski doesn't really capture the emotion which I would anticipate one both experiences and expresses in these circumstances.
However, Stroinski is totally believable - one minute fearsomely aggressive, the next totally placid. His is an outstanding performance.
Director Bartosz Konopka has tackled a difficult subject but has given it significant depth. Layers are added by demonstrating the effect of the father/son relationship on Tomek's girlfriend and his mother as well as on his work.
It is a piece which will resonate with many people and is well executed.
