Is anyone out there a friend of Katherine Heigl?
If so, please have word because if someone doesn't soon her Hollywood career is going to disappear before her eyes.
Her choices of movies make me wonder whether she reads scripts, is just badly advised or is going for the tactic of accepting everything while the going is good.
I guess my dismay with her goes back to the truly awful 27 Dresses but that was quickly followed up by The Ugly Truth, Killers and Life As We Know It.
Are you getting the picture?
New Year's Eve wasn't as bad as others painted it but, let's face it, was still another load of schmaltz.
And then there is One For The Money. Julie Ann Robinson's film is pretty much twaddle.
It's what Hollywood would have us call a Katherine Heigl vehicle because she is the big star (apart from a dazzling cameo from Debbie Reynolds!).
I'm afraid neither the film nor her performance are able to carry the weight of expectation.
And the dimming of Heigl's star was reflected in the fact that there was only one other person watching this with us at Nottingham Cineworld last night - and Mrs W fell asleep!
Heigl plays an out of work lingerie saleswoman who goes to her cousin for a job in his bail bond business.
Despite being completely unqualified, she gets the assignment of tracking down a killer cop who just happens to be a former boyfriend.
Somehow she is meant to do this without any training or even a gun.
During her 'chase' she has to do battle with a string of low-lifes. How she suddenly has the wherewithal to do this, is opaque.
The humour, I guess, is meant to come from Heigl's cookiness. The trouble is she just isn't very cooky.
It isn't all bad, there are a couple of decent chase scenes and I did jump twice and had a bit of a snigger but it isn't a movie which is going to do much for Heigl's faltering reputation.
Laughs: a couple of sniggers
Jumps: two genuinely good shockers
Vomit: a bit of retching but that's all
Nudity: Heigl naked in the shower but with her bits strategically covered up.
